Episcopal Church of the Advent

Tradition

The primary service of worship on Sunday at Advent is Holy Eucharist (also called Communion or Mass). It follows the form of worship of the earliest church, which followed the form of Jewish worship. We believe this time-tested form connects us to deep wells of spiritual meaning.

However, we realize that when forms of worship are cherished for their own sake and not for the connection the draw to God, they can lose their meaning. Those forms can then be changed.

The Episcopal Church seeks always to merge the best of the past and present in its worship. Our traditions help place us in a picture that is bigger than our present lives. How we live our lives matters in that big picture.
