Episcopal Church of the Advent

Social Organizations

Men's Club

Men (any age, shape, or size) meet the first Saturday of each month. They start with a service, followed by breakfast out. They've been known to do some fix-up work around the church, but perhaps are more famously known for the annual Shrove Tuesday pancake supper.

Advent Church Women

Advent Church Women is open to all ladies of Advent. We meet on the third
Monday of each month. Meetings start at 7:00 PM and we try to finish by 8:30. Babysitting is provided by the youth of Advent.

Our main purpose is fellowship. We also conduct fundraisers such as
breakfasts, Antqiue Appraisal Teas and selling grocery gift certificates. The funds are used for
church needs and various charities.

We also organize the annual Giving Tree and Adopt-A-Family for the benefit
of Feed My People, as well as providing receptions for funeral
receptions at the church.

The current president of the Advent Church Women is Clare Kujath.

Quilters

Quilting helps the members of this group practice their craft and raise funds. When someone has finished a quilt top, but needs some talented hands to do the quilting, this is the group to contact. The quilters meet on Monday mornings from 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM. Funds the quilters raise are used to purchase items needed by the church.

Youth Group

The Youth Group participates in out trip activities such as float trips, rock climbing, roller skating, hiking and many more. In addition there is bimonthly Youth Service which addresses issues specific to teens.

Every winter the Youth Group participates in the 30 Hour Famine. The Famine is an all night lock-in at the church where we do not eat anything for 30 hours. We find sponsors to donate money for each hour of the Famine. The money we raise goes to a world-wide organization which fights hunger in poverty stricken countries. We play games aimed at educating us about these problems.

Norm and Nancy Birtley are the Youth Group coordinators.
